What is Color Gel?
It is nail polish that is made out of gel. We apply it to your nails similar to nail polish at the end of your manicure. Then we UV-cure it so that your color will last up to two weeks.

How much does it costs?
We charge $30 dollars for a Color Gel Manicure. You can select any color from our color collection, or French. We don’t charge extra for French.

Is it similar to putting on tips, acrylic nails or traditional gel nails?

The Color Gel is designed specifically for clients with natural nails. Therefore, unlike acrylics, we don’t use the filing machine or any powder on your natural nails. We will only use a nail filer and a buffer to gently prepare the nails prior to application.

How do you take off the Color Gel?
We simply soak your nails in nail polish remover and then peel off the gel polish; no filing or painful pull offs.

Will it damage my nails?
The Color Gel is designed primarily for natural nails so in most cases, clients do not experience any major damage to their nails like after acrylics or other artificial nails method. Also, since we don’t need to do a lot of filing on your natural nails there is little damage. Sometimes clients may experience some roughness on the nails after the Color Gel is taken off, but that can be solved with a little buffing and the nails will be smooth again.

What brand do you use?
There are a number of different brands of Color Gel currently on the market, and different salons use different brands. At Kensington Day Spa & Nails, we use OPI Axxium Soak-Off Gel Lacquer. That means we have many favorite OPI colors for you to choose from, such as Bubble Bath, Passion, I’m Not Really A Waitress, and Big Apple Red. Who is it ideal for?
We recommend a Color Gel Manicure to clients who have natural nails that are in good condition, not overly thin and who generally keeps them fairly short. Feel free to ask us if you have questions about your nails.

Why should I spend more money on a Color Gel Manicure?
We understand that the price is a bit higher from a regular manicure. However, there are many instances where our clients choose to go for a Color Gel Manicure.

Color Gel Manicure is a good option if you are going away and need your manicure to last longer because you don’t have time to visit nails salon on your vacation or business trip; or if you are a bride who would like to have your manicure to last you through your wedding and your honeymoon; or if you frequently have to visit the nails salon for manicures because you work a lot with your hands such as working in the garden, washing dishes, or constantly using water.

The price for a Color Gel Manicure seems a bit pricey upfront, but it will save you time and money later because you don’t have to come back for 2 or 3 weeks because your manicures will still look fabulous. For an extra bonus, you don’t have to sit and wait for it to dry. Once you are done, you can just walk out! Pretty awesome? We think so! Also, other pricey salons could charge you up to $40 dollars and may even charge extra for French. We believe that we have the best deal in town!
